Health authority issues Ebola advisory
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) issued an advisory this afternoon notifying Health Care workers and travelers about measures to prevent introduction of Ebola to Jamaica and how to minimize the risks of contracting the virus.
“There is no vaccine or specific treatment for Ebola, and many people who get the disease die. Therefore, it is important to take steps to prevent Ebola,” SERAH said.
The health authority listed “avoiding nonessential travel to affected countries” among measure to prevent the introduction of the deadly virus to Jamaica.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that more that 3000 deaths have been linked to the Ebola disease so far in West Africa.
