Police impersonator set to return to court November
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Bail was extended for 56-year-old Derrick Thompson, who was arrested in September for impersonating the police and extortion, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Criminal Court yesterday.
According to the Major Organised and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) the man stopped a motorist along the Washington Boulevard on Friday, September 12 and identified himself as a police officer.
He then allegedly threatened to arrest the motorist for breaching the Road Traffic Act before attempting to swindle $20,000 from him.
The incident was reported to MOCA, which carried out a sting operation and arrested Thompson.
