‘And they say talk is cheap’
JAMAICA Observer online readers have weighed in on reports about the high cellphone bills racked up by some Government ministers in 2013. The highest bill of $1.09 million was for an instrument assigned to junior minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Arnaldo Brown. Here are some edited comments:

These telephone bills should be audited and the list of numbers called verified as to whether or not they were made on behalf of official government business.

But they say talk is cheap. It seems under this government it is not. Another thing you get from these dunce-elected politicians. How the heck poor people sleep at night knowing that they voted for these parasites? How the heck politicians sleep at night knowing that they know poor people know they are parasites and they are still flaunting it like a normal thing?
I am stop crying for Jamaica, it needs to start crying for its self. I have no more “eye water” to waste on people who think that this mediocrity way of living is normal and must be encouraged. Mi fire-bun such idiotic, moronic and satanic thinking.

@Clifton Bailey: A minister having a phone bill 4 times that of his senior minister? What could be the explanation? …A phone bill in excess of the gross annual salary of a trained teacher.
Devon Robins
@jamdown21: Four times the gross annual minimum wage, don’t forget that in case.

Why are we alarmed? This is the miracle the IMF was talking about. Honestly, this is nothing new with the PNP Government over the years while they are in power, scandal after scandal and nine days of outcry and everything goes back to normal and nothing changes or no real action is taken.

They clearly had, “Jesus on the telephone, telling him what they, telling him what they needed, right now”. Animal Farm, this is why we have debt, and they need to go.

Amen on the use of VOIP.

The JLP sayw the phone bills are too high. I agree that some of these bills are too high, but come with something else you guys; this pettiness has to stop.

Not a surprise here as all this ruling government does is talk… show me evidence of what this department has achieved. They have no respect for meager state resources. Easy come, easy go. This sense of entitlement and lack of concern for taxpayers money needs to stop.

Who is surprised?

They tried to get Mr Brown for an explanation but his phone was constantly busy.
