McNuff’s Upsetters looking to blank hot SMU in KO final today
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — SALT Marsh United will seek to maintain their title-winning form in Trelawny Football Association competitions when they take on Upsetters SC in the final of the President’s Cup Knock Out this afternoon at Elliston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth.
The game starts at 3:00 pm.
Salt Marsh United won three titles over the last two seasons, the Division One in the 2012-2013 season then the mid-season and Major League titles last season, earning a place in the Western Confederation Super League for the first time.
The teams in today’s final earned their berth the hard way, winning 7-6 in sudden death penalties after both coming from behind to earn 1-1 draws in regulation time, in Sunday’s semi-finals.
Salt Marsh United eliminated Prospect Links SC at Davis Pen while Upsetters SC beat Jackson Town United at Carey Park.
Nickhoy Edwards’ 66th minute goal brought salt Marsh United level with Prospect Links which had been given the lead in the 32nd minute by Ricardo Scott.
After failing to break the deadlock in regulation and extra time, it took a miss by Prospect Link’s Merrick Saunders in the seventh round to send Salt Marsh to the final.

and Kayawani Harvey scored for
Salt Marsh.
Tino Evans, Karon Williams, Onique Small, Dervin Miller, Ramone Lewis and Gregory Duncan all scored for Prospect Links.
At Carey Park, Jackson Town got an early lead when Kavard Huie sent them ahead in the 7th minute and Upsetters had to wait until the 80th minute when Oneil Samuels pulled them level.
The teams combined to take 18 penalty kicks as Samuels, Rasciva Miller, Richardo Richards, Kymar Hylton, Lindon Underhill, Donovan Reid and Richard McAnuff scored for Upsetters.
Ackeem McGrath, Giovannie Buckle, Donomic Brown, Ramone Gordon, Brandies Erskine and Leon Roberts scored for Jackson Town.
