Reggae Boy doing well in Florida
REGGAE Boy, a three year old colt by Cowtown Cat — Flight of Glory, the younger brother of 2012 champion two-year-old City Flight, won his third race from 13 starts to take his record to 13-3-3-2. He has a record of 23% wins and 62% finishing in the top three, which includes three wins and three second place finishes from his last six starts.
His first win came in a six furlong US$8,000 Claiming Race at Gulf Stream Park, his second win was at this same track over five and a half furlongs in 1:05:3, and his third win was at Gulfstream Park West (formerly Calder Race Course) over five and a half furlongs.
Owned by Michael Bernard (Michros), Reggae Boy is trained by Allen (Bongo) Maragh who also doubles as the jockey. Reggae Boy has so far earned US$ 2,786 per start.
The horse has had a troubled early career with issues ranging from seedy toe to an extensive throat flap that affects his breathing and endurance. Trainer/jockey Maragh has been doing his best preparing him for the races and has been doing an excellent job in placing Reggae Boy where he can be most competitive and can earn.
After achieving his vision of being the “Leading Owner by Stakes Earned in 2012” in Jamaica, Michros was severely hit during the 2013/14 season by the effects of bad feed which affected several horses at the racetrack. Most of the horses owned locally by Michros were retired from racing during the 2013/14 season.
