Take the party from day to night this upcoming holiday season with these four easy, super-cute day-to-night styles for hair of all lengths, spotted about town and inspired by our celeb hair crushes of the week. Stay chic with these styles on your next day-to-night outing.

1 Half-Up to Faux Hawk

DAY

Singer-songwriter and actor Jada Pinkett Smith

Half-Up Bouffant

Try this take on the classic ’60s style for a simple yet sophisticated daytime look.

How To… Half-Up Bouffant

What You Need:

– Heat protection serum

– Curling iron

– Flat iron

– Fine-tooth comb

– Hairspray

1 Do this style one or two days after washing your hair for better hold.

2 Apply a volumising spray to your hair, focusing on the top-middle part of the head.

3 Set the top of your head with a large iron. Set the sides using a medium-sized iron.

4 Then, comb the curls backwards, using the comb lightly and moving upwards to create volume.

5 Secure half of your hair up with a clip.

6 Apply a heat protection serum before flat-ironing the ends of your hair, avoiding the top part of the head.

7 Set with hairspray.

NIGHT

Faux Hawk

Turn up the volume after sunset on your half-up bouffant style with an edgy faux hawk.

What You Need:

– Volumising styling hair gel

– Fine-tooth comb

– Hairspray

How To… Faux Hawk:

1 Wash, condition, and towel-dry your hair. You want your hair to be slightly damp when starting this style.

2 Apply a volumising styling gel and blow-dry your hair back.

3 Section a rectangular shape on top of your head using the tail of a fine-tooth comb. Smooth down the hair on the side of our head diagonally.

4 With a small dollop of styling gel between your hands, use your fingers to create volume on the top of your hair, styling in an upward motion.

5 Lightly spray with hairspray to hold.

2 Hippie to Elegant Headband

Hippie Headband

Create a whimsical, hippie look by wearing a headband in an unconventional yet stylish manner, copied from the free-spirited gals of the 1970s.

What You Need:

-A thin or thick whimsical headband of your choice

-Shine serum

How To… Hippie Headband

1 Wear your hair out in loose, wavy tresses that cover your ears

2 Apply a shine serum to your hair to keep stray hairs at bay.

3 Gently place your headband over your forehead and above the ears.

NIGHT

On the Red Carpet:

Actress Charlize Theron

Spotted On:

Reice Diston

Elegant Headband

Flip your hippie look around into an elegant night-time style by repositioning your headband and pulling your tresses into a sweet side-bun.

What You Need:

-Curling iron

-Hairspray

-Sparkly headband

-Bobby Pins

How To… Elegant Headband:

1 Create a side part. On one side, create a sub-section and mist it with hairspray. Run your comb through this section.

2 Using a small curling iron, pick a smaller section of hair, and curl around the iron, then release. Repeat around the entire head.

3 Once all the curls have set, comb them out from the ends to the roots.

4 Gather all of your hair to the side that has the most volume and secure in a loose ponytail with an elastic band.

5 Take the end of the ponytail and secure it above the elastic band using a bobby pin, creating a messy bun.

6 With a bobby pin, loosely pin the front strands of hair from your side part to the messy bun, allowing it to slightly cover the side of your forehead.

7 Place the headband about an inch away from the hairline.

3 One-side French to Double French Braid

DAY

On the Red Carpet:

Actress Syesha Mercado

Spotted On:

Fashion designer Toya Taylor

One Side Up Braid

Keep it simple for the day with a French braid on one side of the head.

What You Need:

-Bobby pins

-Shine serum

How to… One Side Up Braid:

1 Pick your most flattering side on which to create a French braid.

2 On your side of choice, separate the hair above the ear and below the temple.

3 Comb this section backwards to create a tight French braid.

4 Hide the end of the braid under another section of the hair, then secure with a bobby pin.

5 Use your fingers to evenly spread a shine serum on the rest of your hair.

NIGHT

On the Red Carpet:

Actress Jessica Alba

Spotted On:

Allawney McIntyre, senior marketing coordinator at Jamaica Beverages Ltd

Double French Braid Updo

Welcome the night with a twist on your one-sided French braid by adding another on the opposite side and bringing it all together in a chignon.

What You Need:

-Hairspray

-Bobby pins

How To… Double French Braid Updo:

1 Start by creating a deep part down the centre of your hair.

2 Create a French braid on one side, working your way to the nape of the neck. Tie the end with an elastic band.

3 Repeat on the opposite side.

4 Remove the elastic bands from both braids, and combine the strands into a chignon.

5 Pin loose strands with a bobby pin.

6 Mist the finished look with hairspray.

4 Sleek Straight to Sleek Ponytail

DAY

On the Red Carpet:

Singer Alicia Keys

Spotted On:

Start your day with sleek, enviable strands.

What You Need:

-Heat protection serum

-Anti-frizz shine serum

-Round bristle brush

-Blow dryer

-Flat iron

How To… Sleek Straight:

1 Wash and condition your hair using a moisturising conditioner that will protect against heat damage.

2 Gently pat-dry your hair with a towel until damp to lessen your blow-drying time.

3 Apply a dime-size amount of heat protection/straightening serum to your hair, focusing on the ends.

4 Section your hair in four to six parts and blow-dry with the help of a round bristle brush.

5 Flat-iron your hair in sections from root to tip.

6 Using your fingers, apply an anti-frizz shine serum to your straightened hair to hold the finished look.

1 Straighten your hair following the “Sleek Straight” steps.
