Tracking Changes Of Equipment

From The Horse’s Mouth

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15

LADY SANGEETA MAKES WINNING START

The WB Racing-owned two-year-old dark bag filly Lady Sangeeta (Blue Pepsi Lodge – En Vogue by French Champagne) showed signs of ability when running for the first time on Saturday. With Shane Ellis riding for trainer Patrick Chang, Lady Sangeeta ran out an easy winner two-and-three-quarter lengths winner at the maiden level in a time of 1:15:4 minutes for the 1,200-metre event. Good start by the filly, so let’s watch, wait and see.

There were three instances on Saturday’s 10-race programme where changes in equipment made the difference between winning and losing. Thus was the case with Danos La Paz, Tooting Kat and Olympic Prospect. With the visor added by trainer Neville Peralto, Danos La Paz was a winner just getting the better of Glorious Cause (Dick Cardenas) by half a length in a driving finish going over 1,400 metres. In the case of Tooting Kat the removal of the blinkers and tongue tie and the introduction of the figure eight by trainer Patrick Lynch made the difference. Tooting Kat, the mount of Paul Francis, produced a gate-to-wire performance to beat Western Bull (Andre Martin) and Lady Abhijita (Dane Nelson) by three-and-a-quarter lengths in a fast 0:57:4 seconds for 1,000 metres straight. Trainer Paul Hylton removed the tongue tie and figure eight from his charge, Olympic Prospect (Aaron Chatrie ) and the dark bay filly easily got to the winner post in front of Fabulousconnection (Robert Halledeen) – who also had an equipment change – and Remember Me (Marc Griffiths) going over 1,100 metres. The Complete Racing Guide continues to urge our readers to track these changes of equipment.

EIGHT HORSES CLAIMED

Eight horse were claimed on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park on Saturday. Frankenstorm was claimed from Lawrence Freemantle by Neive Graham for O’Shaun Connection for $400,000; Stop A Gap was taken from Dennis Lee by Anthony Nunes for Stephan Narinesingh for $400,000 and Richard Azan lost Cheers for $450,000 to Winchester McIntosh for Family Connection from the first race. In the fifth race, Gresford Smith claimed Sister Margaret for himself from Raymond Townsend for $210,000; The Howard McLeod-trained One Creator was claimed for $250,000 by Steven Todd acting as both trainer and owner; Above The Radar was claimed from Rudolph Hardial by Arnold Rambally Jr for Andre Smith for $210,000 and Ray Phillip took Go To Hell from Tyrone Prince for Alvin Crawford for $250,000. Thunder Heart was claimed for $180,000 from Andrew McDonald by Steven Todd for Gresford Smith from the 10th race.

SPANKING DOUBLE FOR ROWAN MATHIE

Trainer Rowan Mathie is enjoying good form scoring a spanking double. He started the show with 15-1 outsider Different Generation then followed in the feature United Racehorse Trainers’ Association with 3-1 shot Big Brown Grey Hope. Similar to Different Generation (Jevvanne Erwin), Bigbrowngreyhope, the mount of Robert Halledeen, came with his late run in the final 100 metres to beat Lock And Loaded (O’Brien White) by half a length. With his two those two winners Mathie took his tally to nine winners for the season. Both of Mattie’s winners are owned by DSTL and associates.
