SALUT! BETCO
‘Twas another buzzworthy night, another Salut! wine-tasting on Thursday night as the courtyard outside the très chic Fromage Gourmet Market on Hillcrest Avenue hosted Night #4 of the Scotiabank-sponsored week-long Jamaica Observer Salut! celebration of wines and champagnes.
Wine purveyor Betco Premier Limited showcased its Beringer Founders’ Estate portfolio of Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio wines as well as its Caposaldo varietals of Sweet Red Sparkling, Sweet Moscato and Pink Moscato.
The libations on show were paired with such Fromage-prepared fare as goat cheese and fig crostinis with honey drizzle (for the Chradonnay and Pinot Grigio) and balsamic marinated beef tenderloin skewers drizzled with Gorgonzola sauce (for the Merlot), and closed with spoons of white chocolate mousse offered with the Caposaldo varieties.
With King Shiloh International Sound delivered a pleasant playlist of party music and Betco brand manager Jhannel Townsend educating the gathering about the taste profiles of each wine and respective pairing, the night was another enjoyable chapter in local wine appreciation.
