5. Blank Space is hot on the charts. The song has made Taylor Swift the first woman to have one hit succeeded by another at number one on Billboard. This happened when Blank Space took the top spot from Shake It Off, which was released prior to the album. Both songs come from her latest album 1989, which was released a few weeks ago.
4. Bill Cosby, despite his mounting sexual assault accusations, performed his one-man show in Florida last week Friday. He is still silent on the accusations for the most part, but he did a “cry” during his show, repeating “I didn’t know!”, which people are interpreting as being related to the unfolding incidents.
3. Beyoncé is set to release a follow up to her latest self-titled album, Beyoncé to be titled Beyoncé Platinum Edition. She shocked her fans in a good way on Saturday, when she dropped a video for 7/11, one of her new tracks. The video received over 15 million views in its first day online. The natural imperfect selfie theme makes it a fun video to watch, as she was obviously having fun making it.
2. Roots play actor Cleve Warren, more popularly known for his ‘Chu Chu’ persona, died suddenly last week. He died at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital on Thursday, from suspected food poisoning. Chu Chu was well known for his roles in Passa Passa, Passa Passa 2, Delilah, and Man Fi Get Bun. He was 46.
1. The final in the Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, set theatres ablaze over the weekend. Only part one was released, however, and part two is set to be out a year from now. The Hunger Games was created by Susan Collins as novels, which were then developed into movies and children’s books. The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Julianne Moore. It is produced by Nina Jacobson and John Kilik.
