Singer Judy Mowatt for Emancipation Park concert
GOSPEL artiste Judy Mowatt is slated to headline the International Human Rights Day Concert at Emancipation Park in St Andrew, on Wednesday.
Showtime is 6:00 pm.
The event, which is free to the public, is organised by the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society.
Mowatt rose to fame in the 1970s as part of Bob Marley’s backing trio, I-Three. She enjoyed a successful solo career before converting to Christianity in the 1990s.
She was awarded an Order of Distinction for her contribution to Jamaica’s music industry in 1999.
Also scheduled to perform at the concert are Emmanuel Mass Choir, Praise Academy of Dance, EnKounter Culture, Kacy West, and Joel Wright.
Keynote speaker will be Ruby Harrold-Claesson, Jamaican-born human rights attorney and president of the Nordic Committee for Human Rights (NCHR). She will be speaking on “Protecting the True Rights of the Children – Lessons from the Swedish Experience”.
The evening’s emcee will be radio personality Nadine Blair.
