Jermaine Edwards produces a classic
Artiste: Jermaine Edwards
Album: Don’t Count me Out
ONE of Jamaica’s gospel music stars, Jermaine Edwards, shows us, again, his original and open-minded approach to the genre.
The Digicel brand ambassador recently released his newest offering Don’t Count Me Out, and it probably is one of his best album’s released so far.
With worship being the main theme, Jermaine mixes the strong sound of the drums, solid bass and guitar runs and trained choral vocals of conventional gospel to create an exceptional album.
There is the heavy infusion of reggae combined with the contemporary vocal touches. You will also hear sweet musical effects done by Dwain ‘Wiya’ Campbell, funky horns, banjo, electric guitars, and heartfelt singing that will surely incite praise.
This 16 track album will be a hit in its genre and does fall into the trap of repeating what he has previously done.
Fight starts the album. Then Repentance Song switches the mood to one of consecration and reflection. Body-rocking, and finger-snapping are expected for the next track Heart Like Yours.
You will get lost in the next track, the title track, Don’t Count Me Out, which begs for God to shine his grace and his mercy over his people.
Then there is Beautiful Day, the first single released to promote this project.
Nah Mek should easily become a favourite for many — and with Rondell Positive adding is collaborative efforts, you will have no choice but to love.
Won’t Stop Me comes next, the iWORSHIP joins Edwards on Control My Mind.
Number One leaves you in a thankful frame of mind.
Bow and Worship, which features Damion Orlando, is infused with a calypso beat.
Hallelujah and On My Knees reflects Edwards’ intimate times with God.
Kevin Downswell joins Jermaine Edwards on Love Endureth Forever and collaboration between the two is never a disappointment.
Rise Up featuring Christopher Wright comes next.
Pastor Granville Romer graces the next track Thank You with a traditional sound that is still very relevant. The album closes with Beautiful Day Reprise.
A job well done Jermaine.
