Savannah in dramatic rally to beat Salt Marsh 4-2
FROME, Westmoreland — Savannah SC are tied for the lead in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League after scoring a courageous come-from-behind 4-2 win over promoted Salt Marsh United at Frome on Tuesday.
The former champions and Premier League campaigners two years ago, trailed 2-0 at half-time before scoring four second-half goals, including two from Leaton Galloway and an own goal.
Meanwhile, Sandals White House beat Granville FC 1-0 in their opening game, while Violet Kickers rebounded from an opening loss to beat Montego Bay Boys club 2-0.
Tomorrow’s People lead the points tables on goal difference over Savannah SC and Wadadah FC, while another three clubs are on three points — Sandals White House, Violet Kickers and Granville FC.
Salt Marsh were expected to improve on their opening 0-1 loss to Granville and led 2-0 after 37 minutes with goals from former National Under-17 player Ramone Brown in the 10th minute and Marvin Reynolds.
Savannah SC hit back decisively with two goals within seconds of each other in the 50th minute — one from Galloway and the other courtesy of an own goal to tie up the scores.
Michael Kerr gave Savannah SC the lead in the 83rd minute, while Galloway completed his brace with a goal in time added on.
At Sandals White House, the home team repeated last season’s win over Granville FC with Dervin Campbell netting in the 55th minute to give his team the points.
Violet Kickers rebounded from their loss to Tomorrow’s People by blanking Montego Bay Boys Club 2-0, sending them to back-to-back losses to start the season.
Keno Jones gave Violet Kickers the lead in the 35th minute and Nickoy Comrie doubled the advantage right on the stroke of half time.
