MBU on revenge mission
TUCKER, St James – MONTEGO Bay United (MBU) will get the chance to avenge yet another defeat when they host Cavalier SC in the Red Stripe Premier League second-round game at WesPow Park on Sunday, starting at 3:00 pm.
Cavalier SC had beaten Montego Bay United 1-0 in their first-round meeting at the Stadium East field in Kingston, but will be facing the team with the best home record in the competition when they travel to Montego Bay on Sunday.
Montego Bay United are unbeaten at home all season, but Cavalier SC boast a decent away record, winning three and drawing two of seven games played away from Stadium East.
Both teams are coming off draws in their most recent games, Cavalier were held 0-0 by promoted Barbican FC on Monday, while Montego Bay United drew 1-1 away to Boys’ Town, and are unbeaten over their last six games.
Cavalier SC join leaders Waterhouse with the best defensive record in the league, conceding just eight goals, but that will come under serious threat as Montego Bay United have been lethal at home of late.
The Montego Bay United strikers have combined for 12 goals in their last four games, and Allan Ottey, who leads the team with seven goals, is expected to lead the charge once more.
Dino Williams and Lesly St Fleur have four goals each, and Omar Gordon is well overdue on the score sheet.
Despite the absence of midfield linchpin Fabian McCarthy, the defence has stood up, and has only allowed four goals in their last five games. Two of those four goals were conceded in their battle with Reno FC.
