Sandals Whitehouse, Granville battle for lead in Western Confed Super League
WHITEHOUSE, Westmoreland — Sandals Whitehouse and Granville FC could join Savannah SC in the lead in the Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JM Rum Western Confederation Super League with wins today as the first round continues.
Sandals Whitehouse will be going after their third straight win when they host Montego Bay Boys’ Club at Sandals Whitehouse, while Granville FC will travel to face a struggling Holland United team at Elleston Wakeland Centre.
In another game, promoted Salt Marsh United will host Village United at Davis Pen in a Trelawny derby.
Sandals Whitehouse have won both games played so far and had beaten Boys’ Club 5-0 the last time the teams met.
Boys’ Club are, however, coming off a massive 2-0 win over Tomorrow’s People and will be full of confidence that they can get at last a point from the Aaron Lawrence-coached team.
Granville FC are also coming off a big win, edging Wadadah FC 1-0 in midweek and will face a Holland United team that have lost their last two games, including a 4-0 hammering from Savannah SC.
Granville have not travelled well over the last two seasons, however, and this could give Holland some hope.
Holland United’s Stephan Bramwell had his goal- scoring run cut in their loss, but will be leading the attack today and will hope to add to his league-leading four goals though he comes up against one of the best defences in the league so far.
Granville have allowed just one goal in three games played, while Holland have given up a league-leading nine.
The Trelawny derby could steal the spotlight, however, as Village United have so far defied the odds and are on five points from three games after beating Violet Kickers 1-0 on Thursday.
Salt Marsh got their first win at this level this last week, beating Jericho Rangers 2-1 and will be confident they can match up with Village United.
