FRESHHH Chess Prep Champs held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 was well received and was validated by the turnout and participation for its first staging.

The tournament saw over 20 preparatory schools across the Kingston and St Andrew Corporate Area registering and participating in the tournament.

The bright young minds from varying age groups were very excited to demonstrate their skills amongst their peers and to make their parents proud.

The tournament had six rounds which gave each participant a fair opportunity to play their respective opponents.

After each round there was a break which allowed the kids to have a snack and their favourite Freshhh juice drink. After a battle of the minds the winners in the various categories were

Under 6: 1st place St Andrew Prep — Joshua Kelly

Under 8: 1st place Hillel Prep — Axel Torres

Under 10: 1st place Mona Prep — Christopher Lyn

Under 12: 1st place Hillel Prep — Kishan Clarke

This initiative is just the spark of many more to come as 2015 will see the start of the Freshhh Chess Primary Champs and other Freshhh initiatives to continue developing the youth of Jamaica.
