Singjay Dexta Daps yearns for big break
WITH his hard work, singjay Dexta Daps is hoping 2015 will be his breakout year. He feels he has what it takes to achieve his goal.
“I know it’s a hard industry to get a break in the industry. But my versatility and lyrics set me apart from other artistes. I am a very determined youth who has been trying to add my name to the music since 2006 and it’s been going good so far. The industry is hard because everyday you find someone new in the business,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
The singjay said he is currently promoting a single.
“I am currently promoting my single Morning Love. It is on the Daseca Production label,” said Dexta Daps.
According to the 28-year-old, Morning Love (released August) is about true love, the warm feeling you get when you wake up next to that special person.
Dexta Daps, whose given name is Louis Grandison, hails from the Seaview Gardens community in St Andrew. A past student of Calabar High, he said his early influences came from dancehall heavyweights such as Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer and Elephant Man, who all hail from his community.
“I used to listen their songs and then go deejay them to my friends until I started writing my own songs,” he said.
His releases include Pretty Nicky, Scared to Love, This A The Best, and Head Ina Di Bag.
