Singjay Unstoppable Fyah on the rise
ST Ann is renowned not only for its tourism product, but also for its abundance of musical talent. Names including Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Chezidek, Mr Perfect and the popular Roof International label, kept the parish on the musical map for several years.
Singjay Unstoppable Fyah is hoping to have his name among the musical giants who have emerged from the garden parish. However, the journey hasn’t been an easy ride for him.
“The easiest part of the music is to create the song. But it’s really hard to get out there. People take on to the negatives in the music, but the positive and conscious music message hardly gets its due respect. My music is positive music and sometimes it’s hard to reach the people, but I just continue to do good work,” Unstoppable Fyah told the Jamaica Observer.
The 29-year-old, whose real name is Jehorney Coulson, recently released his debut EP titled Rise, a project he is proud of due to its positive messages and its reflection of his experiences.
“I try to always be myself and share my life story. I worked with Mek Hits Records and MB Music. I am pleased with the outcome of the finished product,” he said.
Recording professionally since 2011, Unstoppable Fyah spent some time in St Catherine and in Kingston in pursuit of his musical aspirations. A former student of the May Pen High School in Clarendon, his love for music developed during his teenage years.
While searching for names, he came up with Fyah Ball. He later kicked the ‘Ball’ and made it Unstoppable Fyah.
His recordings include Life Alone Mi Glorify, People Always Ago Talk, and Rise to the Top.
