VIDEO: 2015 Make-up Trends

It’s a New Year and now that the grand celebrations are past, your Get The Look glam squad brings you up to speed with this year’s make-up trends. Our first stop is at D’Marie School of Makeup Artistry where Dawn Lindo and her team took us from desk to dinner; a blushing bride to a fierce “winged diva”; and high-fashion runway to a dazzling carnival look.

SKINCARE TIPS

Skin tips:

1. Know your skin type whether dry, normal/sensitive, or oily (seek the help of a dermatologist).

2. You always want to start with a clean, fresh face before make-up is applied.

3. Use a facial cleanser to remove excessive dirt and oil.

4. Use a toner with a cotton pad or ball to wipe away remaining oil build-up and dead skin.

5. Moisturise skin after toning.

6. Scrub face and neck every two to three days.

7. For daily sun exposure, apply SPF 15 to avoid sun damage.

CORPORATE DAY TO EVENING

Model: Sasha-Kay Bogle

MUA: Kim Kelly

Look: Corporate Day to Evening.

Steps for Corporate Day:

1. Use a toner to cleanse skin.

2. Moisturise and apply primer.

3. Lightly fill eyebrows with a brown eyebrow pencil.

4. Add liquid foundation.

5. Apply setting and highlighting powder, which should be two to three shades lighter than the natural skin tone.

6. Add a natural glowing bronzer.

7. Add flesh-tone eye shadow.

8. Apply a light mist of setting spray to the face.

Steps for Evening:

1. Follow through on steps 1-7 for the Corporate Daytime look.

2. Highlight and contour to face shape.

3. Change the shadows of the face from light to darker shades.

4. Apply banana powder before adding eye shadow to prevent fallouts and discolouration.

5. Add a bold smoky eye with a charcoal eye shadow and gold highlights.

6. Blend charcoal and gold eye shadows.

7. Add blush.

8. Line the eyes with liquid eyeliner.

9. Line the lips and finish with a bold lip colour.

10. Apply a light mist of setting spray to the face.

Kim Kelly — “Transform your corporate day look into a sultry evening vixen!”

Look: Blushing Bride to Everyday Diva

Steps for Blushing Bride:

1. Cleanse, tone and moisturise face.

2. Use a brow powder to fill brows.

3. Apply concealer to define the brows.

4. Apply eye shadow base on the lids.

5. Use a brown or light brown eye shadow for a natural look.

6. Apply primer to fill in pores and to get a smooth finish.

7. Smooth over face with a liquid foundation.

8. Leave to set for one minute.

9. Apply eyeliner.

10. Highlight and contour using a powder to set.

11. Apply mascara.

12. Add lip liner and a nude lipstick. (The lip liner will prevent lipstick from bleeding.)

13. Apply a light mist of setting spray to the face.

Steps for Everyday Diva:

1. Follow through steps 1-13 for the Blushing Bride look.

2. Apply liquid liner to eyelids in a winged shape.

3. Apply coloured mascara.

4. Add highlights to the face with blush.

5. Apply lip liner and a bold lipstick colour to complete this edgy look.

6. Apply a light mist of setting spray to the face.
