J Capri

Best New Artiste

One of the best new talents who took the local scene by storm in 2014 would definitely have to be J Capri.

J Capri, as the best new artiste of 2014, maintained an unwavering presence in dancehall to keep her career on the rise.

Though she has always had a passion for music, it was only recently that her talent was really being recognised locally.

Recording under Rvssian’s Head Concussion Label, it was through hit collaborations like Wine and Kotch with Charly Black, and Pull Up To Me Bumpa with Konshens that J Capri made her entrance to the dancehall scene in 2013.

Those videos received over 20 and 10 million YouTube views respectively.

It was not until 2014, though, that she managed to establish herself as a solo artiste.

She cemented her place in the dancehall with songs such as Boom and Bend Ova and Reverse It.

She made even more collaborations with artistes, such as Vybz Kartel, with whom she recorded Mamacita, and again teamed up with Konshens for Ole Digga.

With songs such as Lyrics To The Song, and Need Your Love she showed a more subtle side of herself, which was a welcomed respite from the hardcore dancehall sound we have become accustomed to.

2015 promises to be a great year for J Capri, as she is being featured on top new riddims, such as Misik Muzik’s Cute Bubble Riddim.
