Best Riddim
With its slow guitar riffs, alternating piano segments and soft use of bass, Yard Vybz Entertainment’s Work Permit Riddim was the Best Riddim produced in 2014.
A riddim perfect for love songs, the producers managed to get hit artistes such as Popcaan, Beenie Man, Alkaline and Bugle to each sing about different forms of love on the tracks.
The riddim was also refreshing in the way in which it spoke of true love and shied away from the vulgar nature of other tracks on other riddims in 2014.
The leading track on the riddim was Popcaan’s Fall In Love and it speaks of Popcaan’s infatuation with a new lady in his life.
She has a grip on the young artiste and throughout the song he recites a list of items he would purchase for his lady.
Beenie Man’s song, Infatuation, is a collaboration with Marla Brown, and in it he serenades Brown who notices the fact that he too is falling with her.
Alkaline’s Shegg Up is a different track, detailing the love he had for a former friend whom he later found out was only pretending.
Bugle’s Love Affair has him informing the woman in his life that she is the only one in his life, and she does not have to worry about anyone else taking her spot.
