VOWS – Helen G: The Fashion of Weddings

WeddingWire’s Brides Choice 2013 and Couples Choice Awardee 2015, Helen G Event Planning & Design, created the picture-perfect save-the-date for wedding prospects and fashionistas to take a gander at the 2015 wedding trends, last Sunday evening at Eden Gardens Wellness Resort and Spa.

Helen Graham, CEO of Helen G Event Planning & Design, unleashed her collaborative offerings for all things bridal. The workshop, dubbed A Fashion of Weddings Bridal Affair, was nothing short of spectacular. We were awestruck as models strutted the catwalk in crème de la crème wedding gowns and honeymoon selections from international design houses Maggie Sottero, Vera Wang, Sophia Tolli, and Italian designers Pronovias, shown by Bliss Bridal Boutique and White Lotus Designs.

Jamaican-born New York-based designer Courtney Washington teamed with Sobelio’s Boutique, Fashionable Statement Boutique and Beautiful Brides & Mr Tux to school the audience on selecting ideal wedding and honeymoon pieces.

Ahead of the evening’s formalities, guests were invited to a poolside cocktail party, where libations by title sponsors Caribbean Producers Jamaica Fresita sparkling wine and local fare by Stephen Hamilton’s Eskay Catering, topped off with the delectable cupcake offerings of Sweet Treasures by Kerry Ann Tapper, set the tone for the grand fashion show to come.

Debbie Rhoden, executive assistant to Helen Graham “This is our first fashion show actually, and we want to exhibit what we think is trending for 2015 in the world of weddings, hence the decision to partner with a number of local businesses; partnerships we believe will help us in selling that dream wedding or event to couples and prospective wedding planners. We’ve included local designers to showcase honeymoon outfit trends to take it a step further.

“What I’ve found during my years of working with brides and taking couples to the altar is that some of our female clients are not very comfortable in their own skin and tend to feel that they’re not beautiful, so what we want to showcase this evening is that brides and models of various sizes are able to be beautiful and feel beautiful on their wedding day and onward. Of course, by the time we’ve given them our Helen G stamp of approval with a complete transformation, everything changes, their confidence is tripled, and they become empowered.”

Helen G “We have frames from Eye-Q Optical for persons who wear glasses; a bride’s dilemma is always ‘What am I going to do in terms of my look on my wedding day?’ So we’re showcasing that you still can look good, feel sexy and beautiful, be a glammed-up version of your regular self on your wedding day. Our goal is to empower women with specific focus on our brides.”

Make Your Day and A Fashion of Weddings Bridal Affair

Helen G Event Planning and Design decided to take the annual workshop to another level by offering wedding planning insight from local vendors, and interacting with the brides by having question-and-answer sessions and closing off with a display of the 2015 wedding trends during the Fashion of Weddings runway show.

Their aim was to showcase the services offered by their sponsors and local business operators: CPJ, Eye-Q Optical, Gorgeous Flowers, Beautiful Brides & Mr Tux, Bliss Bridal Boutique, White Lotus Designs, Courtney Washington Fashion Studios, Jamaica Automobile Association Chauffeur Services, and a host of other wedding vendors in participation.

Helen G Events specifically selected the location, Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa, for their fashion show, as they wanted to introduce Eden Gardens as the perfect location for weddings and corporate events or functions in Kingston.

“What we’d like brides-to-be and the media to take away from this event is that Helen G Events has more to offer than just wedding planning. We want to build a relationship of trust with our clients, to let them know our only intention is to make them happy by providing the wedding of their dreams and nothing less. Regardless of what you want to accomplish, we can help you turn your idea into a memorable milestone. The best part is that we take the burden off your hands in the process. From retreats on the beach, annual award shows, product launches and office parties, we create events that make your colleagues and guests feel as though they are experiencing environs filled with warmth, fun and endless possibilities.”

For the next workshop, Helen G Events plans to showcase more traditional and non-traditional services offered by Jamaican small business owners and would like to partner with more local designers.
