St Jago launch defence of schoolgirl football title
DEFENDING champions St Jago will take on Spanish Town as the 2015 Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) High Schoolgirls’ Football League kicks off this afternoon at Spanish Town playing field.
Action starts at 3:00 pm.
In other matches Wolmer’s Girls’ take on Tivoli Gardens High, Jonathan Grant High face Meadowbrook High, Immaculate Conception High go up against American International School of Kingston (AISK), Camperdown High tackle Denham Town High, Edith Dalton-James High do battle with Campion College, St Andrew Technical High (STATHS) cross swords with Hillel Academy High, Bridgeport High welcome Excelsior High and Innswood High challenge Ardenne High.
All games are scheduled for 3:00 pm and home teams are named first.
Forty high school teams are participating in this season’s competition and are divided into seven zones with the top two teams from each zone advancing to the second round. The second round will be divided into four groups with the teams finishing on top qualifying for the semi-finals.
Last year, St Jago defeated defending champions Excelsior High in the final.
ZONE ‘A’ — Maud McLeod High, Merlene Ottey High, Montego Bay High, Spot Valley High, St James High and Westwood High.
ZONE ‘B’ — Black River High, DeCarteret College and Lacovia High.
ZONE ‘C’ — Christiana High, Foga Road High, Garvey Maceo High, Glenmuir High, Lennon High and Mile Gully High.
ZONE ‘D’ — McGrath High, Ocho Rios High and Old Harbour High.
ZONE ‘E’ — Campion College, Charlie Smith High, Edith Dalton-James High, Jonathan Grant High, Meadowbrook High, Tivoli Gardens High, and Wolmer’s Girls’.
ZONE ‘F’ — St Jago High, American International School of Kingston (AISK), Immaculate Conception High, Camperdown High, Denham Town High, Greater Portmore High, and Spanish Town High.
ZONE ‘G’ — Excelsior High, Ardenne High, Bridgeport High, Cumberland High, Hillel Academy, STATHS, and Innswood High.
