GOSPEL artiste Joseph Emmanuel is currently working on his debut album called Born Again. The album, slated for a May 30 release date, follows his January 30 EP of the same name.

Born Again is being produced by Jah B Musick and StarPlayer Music Group.

According to the singer, the album is a testimony of his life.  

Among the track listing are Spiritual War and the title track, Born Again.

“Spirtual War is about the war we encounter as Christians.  It came about after a crusade where we were faced with a demonic manifestation and didn’t know how to deal with it,” said the 30-year-old.

“Born Again is merely a testimony of my life in song. It speaks about my numerous negative encounters within my world of sin including revelling, atheism, and Rastafarianism,” he continued.

Joseph Emmanuel (given name Joseph Emmanuel Millwood) grew up in Gordon Town, St Andrew, and got baptised at the age of 18. A past student of Excelsior High School in St Andrew, he began his musical journey as a secular artiste in 2006.

“Shortly after my baptism, my values slowly shifted from Jesus and I became dominated by the carnal world,” he said.

Among his secular songs were Songful, Definitely and Selassie l Will Never Leave I. In 2010, the singer said he re-baptised and began doing gospel music.

“It is my intention to spread the word of God everywhere I am placed (work, school, community, etc). I feel particularly committed to be a living testimony and a light set on a hill so that people can see Jesus Christ through me.  I will sing, preach, play music, and dance all to the glory of Jesus Christ,” he said.

Between his ministry, Emmanuel remains close to the classroom, and is completing a master’s degree in social work with a speciality in community development at the University of the West Indies.
