C’Bar, Edwin Allen top at Gibson McCook Relays
The University of Technology’s upset win over the Usain Bolt-led Racers Lions in the clubs/institution’s 4x100m relay at Saturday’s 39th Gibson McCook Relays has reaped big rewards for the teams.
The team of Andrew Fisher, Julian Forte, Kemarley Brown and Tyquendo Tracey ran 38.23 seconds to hold off Racers Lions (38.29 secs) and won the Teddy McCook Memorial award plus $150,000 from sponsors Digicel.
Calabar High’s Class One 4x100m team that broke their own one-year-old record and Edwin Allen High’s Class Two 4x100m team that equalled the record were named the outstanding boys’ and girls’ relay teams, respectively.
Both schools were rewarded with $75,000, also from Digicel.
Calabar’s team of Edward Clarke, Michael O’Hara, Jelani Walker and Seanie Selvin clocked 39.32 seconds to erase the 39.61 seconds set by another Calabar team last year.
Kasheika Cameron, Patrice Moodie, Shelice Clarke and Aaliyah Hopkins won the Class Two 4×100 in 45.01 seconds, to equal the time set 14 years ago in 2001 by a Holmwood Technical team.
