5 Star Akil for Bacchanal
TRINIDADIAN soca artiste 5Star Akil is the headline act for Bacchanal Fridays at Mas Camp in St Andrew, on Friday.
“Patrons should expect a very uptemp, energetic performance from 5Star Akil. He’s looking to make his name, therefore, he’ll be going all the way,” Michael Ammar Jr, a director of Bacchanal Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer.
Ammar Jr said he had something special in store for patrons in the general section.
“We’ll be reducing the price for general patrons by $500. So it will be $1,500 for pre-sold and $2,000 at the gate. We want more people to come and enjoy the live performances,” he said.
5Star Akil, whose given name is Akil Borneo, is no stranger to Jamaica. He performed at one of the Bacchanal events last year. His song Noise is one of the most popular during the carnival season, as well as his breakout hit Partier.
In addition to the headliner, D’Bandit and DJ Richie Ras will provide musical selections for the evening.
Ammar Jr said for the remainder of Bacchanal Fridays a major act will take the stage.
“We’ll have Lyrikal next week, while Fay Ann [Lyons] and Bunji [Garlin] will be on the following week,” he said.
Last week saw Bacchanal patrons receiving a 2-for-1 special on tickets, while being entertained by the dynamic duo Nuphoric.
The outfit comprises hypeman Patrick Alexis, and Ryan Pankar on turntables. They kept the soca-frenzied crowd energised.
“There’s nothing like this in Trinidad. We don’t have a single large venue to enjoy soca each week, and we don’t have the amount of corporate sponsorship I see here in Jamaica,” said Pankar.
