Wilderness stop Galina in St Mary T20 Big Bash
Wilderness defeated Galina by three wickets in the feature match of the St Mary Cricket Association Maurice Clarke Big Bash T20 Competition at Boscobel Oval on Sunday.
In other matches, Sandals/Beaches Ocho Rios defeated Top End by five wickets; Mango Valley stopped Trinity land also by five wickets; Jack’s River beat Oxford by eight runs and Police overcame Galina by nine wickets.
In the Wilderness vs Galina encounter at Galina, the home team batted first and made 142-9 with Romaine Gordon top-scoring with 61, against Noel Farquharson 3-32 and Junior Green 3-17.
In their turn at the crease, Wilderness strolled to 144-7 off 18 overs. Hakeen Francis 33 and Kedar Brown 23 were the mainstay of the Wilderness batting, against Garfield Thomspon 3-17 and Gordon’s 3-39.
At the same venue, White Hall batted first against Area Two Police and were bundled out for 80 off 15 overs, with Gary Mitchell (25) and Trey Brown (21) the main run getters. Katus Lewis bagged 2-5 and Kern Duckett 2-10. Police made 81-1 to seal the easy victory.
At Three Hill Oval, Top End took first strike against Sandals/Beaches Ocho Rios and rattled up 144 all out off 18 overs. Anthony Walters 44 and Nicoy Simms 24 scored the bulk of the runs. Jesse Alexander 2-19 was the top bowler on the hotel team.
When the hotelmen batted, Delroy Patterson (39) and Adrian White (35) paced their team to 147-5 off 18.2 overs, with White closing the match with two huge sixes off pacer Jermaine Chisholm.
Over at Day’s Mountain Oval, Jack’s River batted first and were all out for 112 with Orane Farr’s 42 the top score. Damion Brown bagged 2-16.
Oxford were bundled out for 104 with only Elian Williamson (46) getting among the runs. Farr 3-9 and Darian Walker 3-21 were the main destroyers.
At Mango Valley Oval, Trinity Land made 142-7, thanks to Desmond McKenzie’s 33 and O’Neil Preston’s 34. Nedroy Pinnock grabbed 3-10. When Mango valley batted, Pinnock smashed 73 to lead his team to victory.
