NRSC partners with JCDC for road safety
THE National Road Safety Council (NRSC) has signed an agreement with the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) to partner in hosting the latter’s annual ‘Creative Writing Competition’ for 2015 in an effort to raise awareness regarding road safety amongst the youths of our nation.
The agreement was signed at JCDC’s head office on Phoenix Avenue in St Andrew recently.
Entrants in the creative writing competition have the opportunity to win cash incentives courtesy of the National Road Safety Council.
“This is a great partnership, and JCDC welcomes the initiative with the National Road Safety Council to spread the message of using the road safely. Jamaicans love to express themselves in a creative way, and this is a perfect avenue in which they can do so using this theme,” said Stephen Davidson, JCDC director of marketing and public relations.
The Jamaica Creative Writing Competition encourages writers to sharpen their skills in English or Jamaican dialect through poems, essays, short stories, plays and novels. The JCDC is inviting professional and amateur writers to submit their entries in three classes: Junior (U-12), Intermediate (U-17) and Adult (18 and older). The winners are awarded cash, certificates of merit, medals, trophies and other prizes as an incentive for showcasing their talents.
Entry forms are available on the JCDC website: www.jcdc.gov.jm. Entries must be sent via email to library@jcdcj.gov.jm, then three hard copies along with the completed entry form are to be submitted to any JCDC office. The deadline for entry is Thursday, April 30, 2015.
