Christine Edwards is Miracle Chef
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Christine Edwards has won the inaugural Seprod-sponsored $100,000 Miracle Chef Culinary competition.
The competition for the The Miracle Chef title at the University of Technology on Monday, March 30, ended with a showdown between candidates chosen from the Runaway Bay Heart Academy, in St Ann.
The contestants were judged for their skill, creativity and personality, by a panel of four judges including people from top management in the Seprod Group of Companies, as well as recognised personalities within the culinary world.
“This is the first competition of this type by a commercial entity and so we want to own this space of unearthing talent in the culinary field,” said Seprod’s Group Marketing Manager Roger Thompson.
“Christine’s victory concludes Seprod’s hunt for a confident, animated, engaging, and articulate individual with a flair for the culinary arts, to showcase the quality and versatility of our Miracle line of products across all socio-economic groups,” Thompson added.
He also noted that the event formed part of Seprod’s 75th anniversary. Seprod manufactures and distributes edible oils and fats, corn products and other household consumer products. He said that next year, the competition would be bigger.
Seprod Limited was incorporated in Jamaica in July 1940 and became a public company listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange in 1985. The company employs a direct labour force of over 370 people, with a multiplicity of support labour.
