SAHS Art Exhi
Weeks before April 17 of this year, calendars were marked, and social media was buzzing with the hashtag #ArtExhi, as all interested parties waited anxiously for the first staging of an art exhibition organised by the St Andrew High School for Girls (SAHS) Art Society. #ArtExhi was a one-day exposition put on by the members of the club to raise funds for their student welfare programme.
The event was well received as many patrons rolled out to support the artists who had their work on display. Not only did they go to view the art and interact with those of similar interests, but they also went to purchase pieces in support of the initiative. The support came from various schools as students from Ardenne High School, Campion High School, Immaculate High School, Hillel Academy, Jamaica College, Wolmer’s Boys School and others made their way to the exhibition.
The hall was filled with laughter and excitement as everyone sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the works of these talented young artists. The exhibition featured works from artists in the SAHS Art Society such as Jorjan Dolphy, Lauren Silvera, Kadiene Williams, Joelle McCook, Robin Williams, Stephanie Daley, Abbie-Gayle Clarke, Octavia Lee, Toni-Ann Rhone, Jade Blaxe, Kathryn Lawrence, Makayla Lindsay, Jade Demitius, Sarah McGreth, as well as contributions from Mark Bogle and Dominic Gocoul. Along with the art pieces, decorative key chains and buttons were sold in the fund-raising effort. We have got to give a special shout-out and congratulations to Lauren Silvera, president of the Art Society at the St Andrew High School for Girls. The event was surely a success and the teenAGE Observer will be looking out for more great things from them.
