Sunshine Cereals to sponsor Intermediate League netball
Netball Jamaica received a sizeable boost to its Intermediate League from Confectionery and Snacks Jamaica, through Sunshine Cereals brand, of just over half-million dollars in sponsorship.
“[From] this level of commitment, the competition, that consists of over 500 players with 33 teams and over 100 players, will benefit immensely,” noted Netball Jamaica President Marva Bernard.
Continuing, Bernard said that she was happy that Sunshine Cereals decided to invest in the netball product.
“A very important thing that we should not overlook is what it means for the justice system and the health system. Playing sport, you are not out on the road getting into trouble and have a spill-off on the justice or health system. Netball Jamaica is going to push the message ‘let us invest in sport’, for sport takes care of all these challenges.”
Through its five leagues, Netball Jamaica continues to make an impact on the sport industry, and with this latest sponsorship, the local governing body is expected to push the limits.
Bernard said that this year Netball Jamaica struggled to find a sponsor. Company brand manager, Marlon Kerr, making the announcement at Sunshine Chalet in Barbican yesterday, noted: “Netball in Jamaica is a ‘big deal’. It was, therefore, imperative that Confectionery and Snacks take up the challenge by joining the organisation in its quest for greater overall development of the sport and become a major sponsor. This is a move that we at Confectionary and Snacks see could help to ensure Jamaica’s netball continuing development.
“We are fully aware of the financial challenges experienced in maintaining an organisation of this nature annually. We, therefore, look forward to working and supporting this platform for the Jamaican players that are talented and willing to make that transition to the next level, and ultimately to be a Sunshine girl.”
