Grant’s Jerk Pork & More
From the outside, Grant’s Jerk Pork & More doesn’t seem like much.
But the minute I stepped through the door, I was immediately taken with the chill atmosphere; and for some reason, the aesthetic and aroma of this Charlemont street-side restaurant reminded me of my grandmother’s outside wooden kitchen.
I felt like I was home again. Finding your way to Grant’s is not difficult. If you’re en route to St Ann by way of St Catherine, bypass the new highway and drive through Linstead.
On your way to Ewarton, look left in the Byndloss district, opposite the Charlemont Housing Scheme, for the Grant’s Jerk centre sign. Trust me, the stop is worth it.
The staff was so warm and welcoming and my experience was enhanced by the company of local and international patrons who could not help but rave about how good this place was — with a JUTA driver transporting European tourists declaring “this is the best jerk pork shop in the entire country”.
On the menu at Grant’s Jerk Pork are jerk pork, jerk sausage and jerk chicken. I ordered a quarter-pound of jerk pork and found the pork so well-seasoned and tender, I ordered another quarter-pound to go.
The pork was fresh and moist, and I paired it with green crushed fried plantain, festival and fried bammy. Besides myself, I noticed that most everyone not only dined inside the jerk shop, but also bought extras to go, a clear indication of the meat’s quality.
