Weekly Round-up: Sick-outs and rumours of sick-outs…civil servants wage 5% war
KINGSTON, Jamaica — It was a tense week for the island as battle lines were drawn between the Government and members of the Police Federation.
Several rank and file officers on Monday did not show up for work citing sickness as the cause. The Government in retaliation and with an iron fist obtained an injunction forcing lawmen back to work.
If that was not enough, the administration’s woes increased as educators staged sit-ins and along with medical professionals, hinted at their likelihood of becoming sick.
