Pulse introduced the next generation of The Rock’s designing talent on Tuesday night inside J Wray & Nephew’s chic corporate bar space — @twentythree — the alcohol giant’s New Kingston headquarters.
The Emerging Designers showcase, part of the slate of events for the 15th staging of the now-in-progress Caribbean Fashion Week, featured nine capsule collections from Zaid, Dana Edwards, Jami Lake House, Fashioneira, Beach Goddess, Miakalani, Errice Alica, Anick Urbany Designs and Maleida Kyda.
Tresha Cole, the nascent entrepreneur behind the swimwear line Beach Goddess, was adjudged the winning designer from the three-person panel of Pulse Executive Chairman Kingsley Cooper, Pulse’s general manager Romae Gordon and Jane George, senior director and legal counsel at J Wray & Nephew. Cole’s winning collection will hit the catwalk during Saturday’s CFW designer collection showcase at National Indoor Sports Centre. Designer Glenroy Smith sufficiently impressed the judges with his Zaid-labelled collection to also secure a showing for his threads on Saturday as well.
