Jammin’ in Jamzone
Finally! It’s here. On Tuesday night, Jamzone became the first bowling alley to ever be launched in Jamaica, and the occasion was greeted with much fanfare. Located in the Manor Park Plaza, Jamzone provides a 12-lane bowling alley for patrons to get there game on in an (excitingly) addictive manner.
There was no way that teenAGE was going to miss out on such a grand occasion, so writers Alexei DaCosta, Shantal Pellington and Novaro Thompson were all on hand to get a piece of the action. Alexei and Shantal managed to register a couple strikes, Novaro was not so lucky. They are now the enemies of those who were unable to make it… well not really, but you get the idea. They had a blast!
Gavin Williams, operations manger at Jamzone said, “This space was created for fun-loving persons looking for a new experience, and we hope they will gravitate towards it”. If the opening is anything to go by, fun should be considered an understatement!
For those who have enjoyed bowling abroad before or those who had secretly hoped for the day a bowling alley would be on the island, Jamzone can become their regular chill spot, as one strike won’t ever seem to be enough.
The launch of The Lucky Strike Lounge took place simultaneously. The lounge located inside the same building as the alley serves up your regular restaurant food, drinks and liquor (of course none for you teens below 18 years old), while allowing you to catch up on your favourite sports on one (or all) of their many flat screen TVs.
DJ Bambino was the mix master and chairman for the night, and he catered with lovely upbeat music and hilarious jokes for the entire launch. The tourism and entertainment junior minister, Damion Crawford gave the greetings and did the symbolic ribbon cutting, which was welcomed by a roudy applause, cheers and the ringing of a bell!
Crawford congratulated Jamzone on behalf of the government. He said it’s “an exciting investment in the country as it’s diverse and that’s what attract customers and of course, create jobs”.
