FICTION Fantasy Nightclub at Marketplace on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew celebrated its first anniversary in style, starting with a Pre-Anniversary Soirée Friday nights hosted by American actress Vivica A Fox.

“My birthday is next month, so Jamaica, you’re officially kicking off my birthday celebrations,” Fox said.

Considering herself ‘Jamerican’, Fox said this was her fourth visit to the island.

She told the Jamaica Observer she currently busy reprising her character Jasmine Dubrow for the sequel to the smash hit Independence Day, which began shooting in New Mexico, USA six weeks ago. She said shooting will continue until August.

“I’m so very honoured and proud that they’re brining my character back,” she said.

Fox’s projects don’t stop there as she’s also currently working on a script for another sequel, the recently released Chocolate City. The vivacious 50-year-old also has a new lingerie line in the works and has had the contract for her hair collection extended for another three years.

“I just want to thank Jamaica for always being so supportive of my career,” she added.

David Annakie, head of Linkup Media Group of Companies who owns and operates the club, told the Observer he was happy to mark this milestone.

“Fiction has surpassed our expectations,” he said.

Annakie acquired Fiction Nightclub from the KLE Group in 2014 and has rebranded it. The party spot now thrives on the more cosmopolitan style he is known for.

“We have to keep reinventing the wheel to stay relevant,” he explained.

Part of staying relevant is Annakie’s own admission that Jamaica is not a third world nation when it comes to entertainment. Since its year in business, the club has seen visits by A-listers such as female rapper Eve, Busta Rhymes, and R&B singer Trey Songz, of which Fox now joins.

Fox was joined by Majah Hype, Kevin Crown and DJ Nicco at the Fiction Fantasy Pre-Anniversary Soirée and will return to the island on her birthday July 30 for a five-day celebration ending August 3.
