JTA declares 2015 president-elect
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Teacher’s Association (JTA) has declared Howard Issacs as its president-elect for the 2015-2016 conference year.
The JTA says after counting the more than 13,000 votes cast in this year’s election; Issacs received the highest number of votes and was declared the winner.
He will be officially proclaimed at the official opening of the JTA’s Annual Conference scheduled for the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay, August 17-19, a release from the association said.
Issacs, who is the principal at the Moneague College in St Ann, went up against three other candidates.
They are: Denham Town High School teacher Claudette James; Collington Powell, principal of Friendship Primary School in St Catherine and; Ansell Palmer, a teacher at Lowe River Primary and Junior High in Trelawny.
