Somerset Falls up for sale
The family-led LP Azar group aims to sell Somerset Falls in Portland which it acquired less than five years ago.
The company put the “112-acre property” which includes the majestic falls up for sale but stated no reserve price.
“Nature at its very best located on the main road between Buff Bay and Port Antonio,” stated a sale notice published in June. “Call Andrew Azar for details.”
However, the Jamaica Observer’s attempts to contact Azar at the listed number over the course of a week proved futile up to print.
Somerset Falls runs through an old sugar plantation filled with gardens that extend to the sea. Its a nature attraction but not as high profile as Dunn’s River Falls in Ocho Rios.
The group’s primary businesses include texiles, home furnishing with LP Azar, security with KingAlarm, frozen yogurt with its Tutti Frutti franchise and real estate with CD Alexander Company which it purchased from Mussons group in 2013.
LP Azar was founded by Andrew Azar’s grandfather as a wholesale fabric company in the 1960s.
