Winning streak
Manchioneal Primary School retained the Portland Insports 3P’s football title for the third time when they defeated Port Antonio Primary two goals to one at Carder Park, recently.
Manchioneal Primary goals were scored by leading competition scorer Dontae Wallace with a brace moving his tally to 33 while Rajay Grant scored Port Antonio’s lone goal.
In other football action at the Basic School level Port Antonio Infant defeated George Cohen 3-1 on penalties after both teams ended without a goal at the end of full time going to the dreaded penalty kicks where Port Antonio Infant emerged winners.
In the preparatory level Portland Prep edged out Shebian Prep 3-2.
All the winners received medals and trophies.
Principal of Manchioneal Primary Maureen Campbell was elated.
“The boys did well. They have been working hard and have been duly rewarded for the hard work and disciplined displayed throughout the season and at school”.
Rowland Pearson of 3P’s was equally pleased with the performance.
“The competitions went well and this is where the development starts. The youths are bright and all they need is the opportunity and this is giving them the opportunity to develop their skills and their education. I love my country and I love the youths and what I am doing is to help the community to develop,” Pearson said.
Portland Insports Officer Sharon Harris said although it was very challenging to organise the competitions she has to commend the stakeholders.
“I want to commend the schools for the level of involvement and the parents for their involvement and support given to their children and the schools, the coaches, officials and the teachers as without their support this would not have been possible,” Harris said.
“This is where we unearth new talent and help our youths to develop not only their sporting skills but also leadership, confidence and socials skils”
