Boeing at 381 deliveries in 1st half 2015

NEW YORK, United States (AFP) — US aerospace giant Boeing delivered 381 commercial aircraft in the first half of 2015, keeping it on track for a new annual record, according to company data released Monday.

Boeing delivered 249 planes from the Boeing 737 line, its short-to-medium range aircraft, and 64 Dreamliner 787 planes, a midsized aircraft built largely with composite components to conserve energy.

Among larger planes, Boeing delivered nine Boeing 747s and nine Boeing 767 planes. Boeing delivered 50 Boeing 777s.

Boeing has predicted delivering up to 755 aircraft this year, which would be more than the record 723 set in 2014.

Aircraft deliveries are closely monitored by investors as a measure of profitability because that is the time when manufacturers typically are paid by customers.

Boeing’s deliveries bested those of archrival Airbus, which had 304 deliveries in the first half of the year. But the European aviation giant had 348 net orders, more than Boeing’s 281.

Boeing is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings on July 22.
