Tallawahs skipper predicts “no major changes” to team
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Chris Gayle, the skipper of the Jamaica Tallawahs, says he expects “no major changes” to the team for Tuesday’s Hero Caribbean Premier League clash with St Lucia Zouks at Sabina Park.
The Tallawahs slumped to a humiliating 119-run defeat to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on Saturday for their second loss of the 2015 season, leaving some speculation about likely adjustments to the composition of the team.
“That’s something we are looking into, but no major changes [are expected] at this point in time. When we have team discussions we can analyse and see what we can come up with in terms of the perfect eleven. We have a great bunch of guys on the bench and it’s very strong as well, so if anyone comes in it should be fantastic replacement,” he told reporters on Sunday.
Gayle has been in good form with the bat, but whenever he has failed this season, the batting has been lacking, aside from Chris Lynn’s attacking cameos.
The left-handed opener said he will always try to lead from the front, but is urging his teammates to step forward.
“As the opening batsman and as the captain you want to lead from the front. You won’t always get that so you expect the middle-order to get the job done,” the Tallawahs captain said.
