#GivesMeLife
For this week’s #GivesMeLife we take a trip down memory lane. We all have those flashbacks of our childhood that when remembered cause us to smile, laugh or even cry. Whatever emotions they provoke, what’s true is that we hold them very dear to us and hope to never forget them. This week our teenAGErs reminisce on the childhood memory that #givesmelife.
Rashida Byfield: The childhood memory that #givesmelife is when my grandmother and I would sit on the porch and try to figure out where had light. Then she would tell me stories about growing up with her grandmother. Growing up was awesome because of grandma. She just couldn’t comb hair. (PS: Rashida is our fashion writer)
Jodian Downs: The childhood memories that #givesmelife are the ones that tried to “take my life” so to speak, because I was a really clumsy child and used to fall all over the place. Looking back on it now its kind of funny but back then it really hurt.
Candiece Knight: The childhood memories that #givesmelife involve me going to the ‘bush’ to pick mango, sweet sop, jackfruit, naseberries and oranges. Also swimming in black tanks, riding for miles on bicycles to the river, killing lizards, reading and writing love letters.
Gabrielle McDowell: I remember when I was a little girl my dad would dance with me on his feet. He would move slowly and sing sweet little songs to me because I am his princess. Now I reflect on those tender moments and realise that my ability to love others came from my caring family. Perhaps if I ever have children of my own, they too can look back on our times together with much fondness. That #givesmelife.
Kesi Mortley: The childhood memory that #givesmelife would definitely have to be walking in the rain! Every time I think of that memory it #givesmelife because it reminds me of true liberation and how I could simply walk, run and play with bare feet in the rain without caring. Good times I tell you.
READER’S PICK:Brittany Jones: The childhood memory that #givesmelife is falling asleep somewhere in the house and mommy carrying me back to the bed or just spending summers in the country with daddy.
Awww! These memories sure are sweet and would almost bring us to tears. Almost because we’re not done yet! Check in later this week for part 2, including our editor’s pick… then you can cry.
