Lucky winner of Digicel Diaspora CPL promotion gives prize to father
WINNING an all-expenses paid trip to enjoy the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) finals in Trinidad would surely be a dream for many cricket lovers.
For Nicholas Lawrence, however, he sees this a dream gift for his father Reynold Lawrence.
Nicholas Lawrence was the winner of the Digicel Ultimate CPL Experience competition. To win, Lawrence had bought $4,000 in credit using the company’s online top-up portal, which he had also given to his father.
An avid user of the Digicel online top-up app, Lawrence said, “I was just sending some credit to my dad, but from I saw the competition being advertised I said to myself if I won, I would give my dad because I think he deserved it.”
Reynold Lawrence is beyond grateful for his son’s act of kindness. “I am so thankful to my son for this prize, especially since it’s a cricket prize, because I am a big fan of the game. I never got to see any of the games in Jamaica because of work, so to know that I will be watching them in style is so great! He could have kept it for himself but he gave it to me and I just feel so happy.”
Certainly, the longtime cricket fan will be watching in style as his prize package includes: airfare to Trinidad, ground transportation, a four-day stay in the Trinidad Marriott, two smartphones, and, of course, VIP access to the matches.
Yesterday the Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel faced off in semi-final one. The winner of that match will then play the Guyana Amazon Warriors in tomorrow’s semi-final two, and then move on to the finals against the Barbados Tridents on Sunday.
