Weekly Round-up: Cops kill colleague?..St Elizabeth ‘drug dealer’ dead…PM on leave
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A week after the killing of Constable Crystal Thomas, another police officer was gunned down in the volatile West Kingston area on Tuesday. Police reports are that the constable was killed by thugs; however, residents are contending that he was killed by his colleagues.
Meanwhile, an alleged ‘drug dealer’ was reportedly found slumped over the steering wheel of his car with a single gunshot wound to the head in Junction, St Elizabeth, on Wednesday. The following day, residents mounted a roadblock claiming that the well-known fisherman was murdered by the police.
Amidst the chaos in the island, Jamaicans had something to smile about this week following the historic victory of the Reggae Boyz over the United States in their CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-final match on Wednesday. The Boyz are going for gold Sunday when they face North America giants, Mexico.
