500 units being built at Seville Meadows 3
AS water woes and security concerns affect much of the population, Seville Meadows — currently under constuction in Spanish Town, St Catherine — is to offer its homeowners its own comercial centre, water supply and police post.
Dr Morias Guy, minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Transport, Housing and Works, conducted a tour of the Seville Meadows 3 construction site which has 500 one-and two-bedroom detached units under construction. The community Seville Meadows 3 is located on St John’s Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Guy endorsed the project and encouraged MJC Masterbuilders to continue to provide high quality housing solutions to the public at affordable rates, according to a recent release.
He also indicated that the total housing deficiency is over 400,000 units at this time.
According to Maurice Gabay, managing director of MJC Masterbuilders Limited, when completed Seville Meadows 3 will also have a large commercial centre at the front of the property.
Gabay said that MJC began to take on that challenge at Seville Meadows 3 by introducing the Avalon standard (607 sq ft of living space, minimum 3, 600 sq ft of lot size) housing unit at an introductory price in Phase 1 at $4.9M. “The market has gravitated to this very well” he said.
Security will be a main feature of the scheme as a police post will be constructed as part of the commercial centre and handed over to government to staff and operate, to serve the scheme and the surrounding neighbourhood.
Seville Meadows 3 will also supply water to the residents of the scheme from the well which is on the property.
After touring Seville Meadows 3, the group took a short tour of Seville Meadows 2 which is located on Featherbed Lane and were ‘blown away by what was on display’, according to the release.
MJC has plans for other schemes which will be introduced to the market in the near future.
