Halledeen spared suspension; fined
Title-chasing jockey Robert Halledeen was spared suspension but had his fine increased following the successful hearing of his appeal by the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC).
The stewards of the Commission on July 7, 2015 had imposed a three-raceday suspension and a $10,000 fine on Halledeen for what was deemed to be interference that his mount Secretena caused to Pearlofmydreams on May 23 during the running of the sixth race. Halledeen then appealed the decision. The appeal was heard on July 20 by the Commissioners of the JRC.
After viewing the patrol film of the race, hearing evidence from Halledeen, and a submission from Haldene Johnson, Chairman of the Stewards’ Panel on the day, Commissioners, withdrew the three-day suspension and increased the fine to $15,000.
