Ministry bids Nigerian Ambassador farewell
KINGSTON, Jamaica –State minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade Arnaldo Brown hosted a farewell luncheon on Tuesday for outgoing Nigeria High Commissioner to Jamaica Olatokunboh Kamson, at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.
According to Brown, the Jamaica/Nigeria relationship was further cemented during HC Kamson’s tenure in Jamaica.
He also expressed hope that the future ambassador from Nigeria will continue on the road of cooperation, following in the footsteps of HC Kamson.
HC Kamson, who referred to himself as “a Jamaican born in Nigeria,” told the gathering, “I look back with satisfaction on my time in Jamaica.”
The Ambassador also highlighted some of the high level visits during his tenure, which included that of Nigeria’s then President Goodluck Jonathan. Jonathan was the special guest of the Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, during Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2012.
Other notable cooperation achievements during HC Kamson’s posting in Jamaica included: the 2014 Jamaica/Nigeria Joint Commission and the recent study visit this year of an arm of the Nigerian Military.
