Reggae Boyz give to charity
KINGSTON, Jamaica — During a presentation at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) headquarters in New Kingston on Thursday, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz handed over $100,000 to Special Olympics Jamaica (SOJ) to fund its football programme.
A further $100,000 was donated to Mannings Boys’ Home, while 50,000 was given to Glenhope Nursery. The JFF and national players have partnered in the past to make donations to Glenhope Nursery.
“They intend to take from their per diem and match incentives and pool together and look at the charities that are in need,” said Reggae Boyz team manager Roy Simpson.
Mannings Boys’ Home, located in St Elizabeth, provides academic, vocational and social activities and rehabilitation for the young males it houses.
Glenhope, situated in Kingston, is a child care institution for babies and toddlers.
The mission of the international Special Olympics movement is to provide year-round training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports.
