Poppy’s Pride is a winner
Poppy’s Pride finally entered the winners’ enclosure on his third attempt to win a maiden special weight event going over 800 metres at Caymanas Park last Saturday. He simply outclassed the field.
Trained by Philip Feanny and ridden by Jevvanne Erwin, Poppy’s Pride (Adore The Gold – Bunns Of Steal) was sent to the lead and that was that for his five rivals as the bay colt cruised home comfortably by four-and- a-half lengths with minimum fuss.
Mesmerize, the odds on favourite in the race under Shane Ellis, was second ahead of Maggie’s Way, the mount of Oneil Mullings.
Owned by Two Penyu, Poppy’s Pride covered the distance in 0:48:2 minutes.
“The race was not that difficult as Poppy’s Pride got a good break and cruised home easily. He was not challenged at any point in the race, so it was how far he was going to win,” Erwin told the Complete Racing Guide.
