D-lexx keeping the Party Vibes
DESPITE summer drawing to a close, up-and-coming singjay D-lexx believes the period would be incomplete without his single Party Vibes.
Co-produced by D & D Records and Spyral Records, the track is scheduled to be released this weekend.
“Yes, there are several summer songs. But my own have a vibes which people can relate to, party to and have fun. It’s all about how the party ah go and having a good time … something to carry the summer swing,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
The 20-year-old said ideally the single’s release should have coincided with the staging of the island’s yearly blockbuster summer parties. But, he remains optimistic.
“It should a come out before Dream Weekend and Chug It, because getting it played at those parties would be a good look. But there will be more parties,” he said. Dream Weekend and Chug It ended last weekend.
D-lexx (whose given name is Shamari Dennis) believes the given the current nature of the industry, it is hard for up-and-coming acts to get a break.
“Right now, it’s every man for themselves. The elders in the business are not pushing the young acts like one time. But look at what Omi is doing. As a young act, him top the Billboard chart with his song Cheerleader and mash up the whole a Europe with it before that,” he said.
“I would a like to see young acts getting the exposure… a just time, because a lot of the young acts dem have it… them just waan the opportunity,” he continued.
Born in Old Harbour, St Catherine, D-lexx said music was always his passion. After graduating from Tacius Golding High, he attained a Level 2 in commercial food preparation but the jobs were few and infrequent. He then diverted his energies into music.
“I woulda love my career go international and I’m working on it,” he said.
His other singles include Real Friends and Done See It.
