Action-packed karting meet
PATRONS got their money’s worth at Sunday’s karting meet at the Palisadoes International Raceway in Kingston, courtesy the Jamaica Karting Association (JKA).
The event was the fifth of the karting calendar.
“The new additions enhanced the show,” Heather Eaton, JKA president told, Auto.
The reintroduction of the older Yamaha 100cc karting class and the Mini SuperMoto motorcycles added to the full Rotax classes provided a variety filled race programme. This meant there was plenty of on track action for everyone to watch from the start of the event to its end.
“It was a good day of racing for the debut of the Mini SuperMoto series that will be run with the JKA meets,” said Kyle Reynolds of Irie Racing.
Irie Racing provided the seven bikes that participated in three races of the day.
The rest of the JKA regulars put on a good show as well with healthy race grids. In Comer 50, Zachary Sirgany had the perfect day by winning all his races from pole position to chequered flag.
Zachary Williams also enjoyed his ninth birthday as the dominant racer on the Comer 80 class.
Justin Sirgany continues to stamp his presence in the 125cc Rotax Junior class, while in 125cc Rotax Senior Jonathan Law outdid his more established competitors such as Collin Daley Jr and William Myers to emerge on top.
Peter Moodie Jr continues to be the man to beat in 125cc Rotax Masters. Up to press time, the Rotax Minimax results were under review due to the fact that several competitors in the class received the black flag.
